INTERIOR DESIGNER IN YORK
Interior design for York homes, from our Leeds studio
Suma Interiors is an interior design studio based in Leeds, under an hour from York. We design homes for busy families and homeowners across York and the surrounding villages, from Georgian terraces near the city walls to modern family homes on the outskirts.
Our focus is simple: homes that feel calm, work hard for everyday life and are finished properly, room by room or all at once.
Designing for York homes
- Georgian and Victorian terraces: tall, narrow homes over several floors, where clever storage, good lighting and a clear flow between levels make all the difference
- Edwardian and 1930s family homes: popular for extensions and kitchen-diners, with room to add character and practical storage
- Village cottages and older homes: low ceilings, deep windows and thick walls that need the right colours and lighting to feel bright and warm
- Newer family homes: where built-in storage, layered lighting and texture add personality to clean, modern spaces
Period homes, listed buildings and conservation areas
York has a wealth of historic homes, and many sit within conservation areas or are listed. We design interiors that respect original features such as fireplaces, cornicing, panelling and sash windows, while bringing in the comfort and storage modern families need.
If your home is listed, alterations need listed building consent. We’re happy to work alongside your architect or the council’s conservation officer, so the design is right from the start.

We start with a consultation at your home to understand the space and how you live. We then create the design, with layouts, materials, lighting and furniture, and once you’re happy, we manage ordering, deliveries and trades through to final styling.
